This is a really short book that, to give the author credit, does present a lot of information on the HCG Diet that is correct since it is directly from the original Simeons diet text or Trudeau's books. However, what is missing here is the explanation that Simeons gives for using HCG in weight loss. The author's summary of that is incorrect. Maybe the author believes that your ordinary folks wouldn't understand it, but in the end, when the author (Child) gives his/her conclusion on the validity of this diet, it is obvious that he/she just did not "get it". Why do I say this? On page 40 of the book the author writes:"If HCG hormone is so fantastic at curing obesity, why do we have to change our normal eating patterns? We should be able to eat what we want, when we want, and still lose weight, right?" WRONG. She just doesn't have a clue about the scientific logic part of the diet apparently. While it may be absolutely true that anyone eating 500kc/day will lose weight, Dr. Simeons' protocol is more than "just losing weight". Resetting the dysfunctional diencephalon part of the human brain is the real goal here. Furthermore, scientific studies claiming to refudiate the diet can probably be refudiated themselves since data is quite easily interpreted through the eyes of the interpreter's biases, and biases tend towards preserving the already-established medical/scientific views and condemming new work that might threaten them. Sooooooo.... my advice is to pass on this book and get the real thing. Be a good shopper with your diet too. The author is correct in saying that the popularity of the HCG Diet has opened avenues for fraud; i.e. sales of HCG drops that contain no HCG, etc. The HCG Diet books also tell you that. BUYER BEWARE! So, there is nothing you can learn here that you can't learn with a legitimate book about the diet. Buy one of those; not this one.Product details

Well worth the purchase and highly recommended! I wouldn't touch this possibly deadly HCG diet with a ten foot pole (I would have to be pretty desperate.) The author has clearly and concisely exposed the truths about Dr. Simeons' HCG diet without fuelling the media hype, no fluff or advertising. It's so sad that many people, when hearing of a "new magic-bullet," don't want to hear anything other than how and where they can obtain their new-found cure. I'd rather be fat and alive than skinny and dead, read this book for the real facts & don't bury your head in the sand.
Dr. Simeon's Miracle Diet, aka HCG, is popular today in many circles. What you don't know CAN hurt you though, and your family. Here, this truly is a book that "exposes" the HCG diet... And it made me think twice about trying the HCG Diet because there's so many risks that I didn't know about before. Shouldn't those be disclosed by those promoting HCG??? Also, injecting yourself like a junkie on crack isn't the right diet for you. Why subject yourself to that kind of thing??? Like the other reader said, the book is short and straight to the point and provides essential details. I love concise volumes that tell me what they promise to tell me and leave out the fluff; this one does, HIGHLY recommended.
Can't believe this was 12.99. What a scam! Not worth it, 41 total pages of nothing! Thought I would actually get details on how to use the diet. Instead I get Gifty Child's take on someones use of the diet, not the authors Can anyone write a 41 page review of anything they know nothing about and sell if for 12.99? Shame on for selling such a bad product.
This book is a scam. It is not even really a book, it is more a large article in bound and printed in big font. It is a ripoff at any price. The book contains information about the HCG diet available on any HCG website. She "exposes" nothing. Save your money.
Not so good
First, this is a very short book (not worth $8.99). It took me about 25 minutes to read the entire thing. The author basically gives you the summary of Dr. Simeons findings (which you can read online for free) and talks about the difference between Kevin Trudeau's book, which is basically do a cleanse as phase 1 and add in supplements. At the end she goes on to tell you not to bother with the HCG diet and just reduce your caloric intake by 500 calories per day to lose weight. Well, if that had worked for us, we wouldn't be looking into this would we?
